Longvida Curcumin - dokumentert å ha 65 ganger høyere biotilgjengelighet

Curcumin, det gule fargestoffet fra gurkemeie er et av de mest spennende virkestoffer naturen tilbyr oss, med snart 6000 publiserte studier som viser potensielle og spennende helsegevinster. Ulempen med curcumin er at kroppen vår har vanskeligheter med å ta opp curcumin. Biotilgjengeligheten er altså lav, noe som krever høye doser for å oppnå disse helsegevinstene.

The SLCP™ technology fulfills the three main requirements for bioavailability: 1) solubility 2) permeability 3) stability
Solubility: SLCP™ dissolves curcumin into a lipid particle. When this particle enters the bile acids in the small intestine, it dissolves into the bile acids where it is able to be taken up into the bloodstream.
Permeability: with SLCP™, the curcumin is in a form that is permeable through the lining of the small intestine. Permeability has to do with ionization of the compound. Regular curcumin is in a non-ionized form, while SLCP is considered to provide a more ionized form.
Stability: SLCP™ protects curcumin from degradation by different pH (acidic in stomach and basic in small intestine). In many curcumin pK studies, all they find are ferulic acid and vanillin, which are degradation products of curcumin, or curcumin glucuronide, which is an inactive conjugate of curcumin
The SLCP™ technology should not be confused with the liposomal technology. Before UCLA developed Longvida®, they considered liposomes as a possible technology to improve curcumin delivery, however it was determined that liposomes were not ideal for oral dosing due to their poor shelf stability and instability in the gut after oral dosing.
Longvida® is stable on the shelf and after oral consumption in the gut, allowing for therapeutic levels of the free form of curcumin in the blood stream as a possible technology to improve curcumin delivery.
